The Infinite Stream 24/01/12

The Infinite Stream is where we post about items that are news-worthy but not necessarily require their own full article.  Check after the jump for news from 24/01/2012!

Avengers aftershave could be the strangest product tie-in ever..
One thing that has never crossed my mind while reading a comic, or watching a superhero film is "Boy, I wish I could smell like The Hulk" but, if it had, there is now a product that can make that wish come true!
Avengers Cologne is produced by JADS international, who have also released Star Trek based perfumes.  The scents included in the Marvel Collection include Patriot (Captain America); Smash! (The Hulk); Worthy (Thor); Mark VII (Iron Man); Infinity Formula (Nick Fury) and Mishief (Loki).  According to the JADS website there are also Spider-Man and Deadpool fragrances in the works.
I don't think I'll be tempted into buying any of these any time soon, but I am curious as to how they smell - if anyone gets some, let us know what they're like!

Microsoft plans to "Phase out" Microsoft points in 2012
Microsoft points are a pain in the ass for pretty much anyone who has ever used them, and are the bane of anyone planning on buying downloadable content from any of Microsoft's digital distribution services.  But not for much longer (Hopefully)!
Inside Mobile Apps received 'exclusive' information detailing the plans to start phasing out the use of Microsoft points by the end of the year - most probably in favour of a real-currency based transaction system.
Personally, I have not bought very much on XBLA and Microsoft points were a big part of that - adding an extra transaction between you and your desirables really hampers impulse buying, and maybe Microsoft have finally figured this out..  If only they'd figured it out before I got Steam, then maybe they'd have more of my money...

Zelda's Hyrule recreated in ambitious Minecraft project
There have been some very ambitious Minecraft projects over the last year or so, including the building of the Starship Enterprise, and a scaled-down version of the entirety of Middle Earth (wowzers to that one!)  But this most recent one that I have found out about sits much close to my heart - a 1:1 scale creation of Hyrule circa Ocarina of Time!
As you may have noticed from previous posts I am a Zelda-nut, and Ocarina.. was the game that started it.  While watching the above video i recognised every location within half a second of the video cutting to it, so the makers have done a superb job on it!
The world is not finished yet, but I'm sure I'll be posting download links (heh) when it is!

GTA 5 info coming in February...maybe
Bar the trailer released last November there has been very little coming from Rockstar about their flagship franchise, but there has (apparently) been contact made to a member of the GTA forums from a Rockstar representative, who says that information will be coming next month!
Now I'm a pretty cynical guy, so a forum-poster claiming he has been contacted by a developer with information relating to their hottest property seems a little suspicious, but other sites seem to be taking the news as reasonably truthful, so who am I to say otherwise?
Personally, I'm only bothered about a release date - so I will know which year Call Of Duty will be knocked off its best-selling pedestal...
