Anonymous threaten Xbox Live, Facebook, Twitter...
The online collective known as Anonymous have started one of their infamous operations, in an attempt to get file-hosting website MegaUpload put back online.
MegaUpload was shut down on Thursday by the U.S. Justice Department over allegations of copyright infringement, which caught the attention of Anonymous, who are known for their advocacy of file-sharing and freedom of information.  The online-vigilantes have given 72 hours notice before, if MegaUpload is not put back online during this window, they start attacking major websites and online services such as the aforementioned Xbox live service, Facebook and Twitter, as well as YouTube, The U.N. and US Bank; as anonymous have a history of following through with their threats, I believe this one should not be taken lightly, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of days.

New Fire Emblem game coming to 3DS
The Fire Emblem game that came to the 3DS as part of the Ambassadors program was obviously only the start of all things Fire Emblem on the 3DS, as Fire Emblem: Kakusei is set for an April 2012 release in Japan, and hopefully a worldwide release not long after.
The game will introduce two-on-one tactics, which will allow two allies to team up against a single adjacent opponent, and the return of a worldmap, allowing travelling and buying/selling items between objectives, not seen since Sacred Stones.
I haven't bought many games for my 3DS yet, as the lacklustre launch titles made me relatively indifferent towards the consolefor the last couple of months; but with an apparently awesome Mario title now available, a proper Resident Evil game on the way, as well as the Kid Icarus and rumoured Zelda titles potentially on their way soon, this is just icing on a very promising 2012 for the 3DS.

Star Wars: The Old Republic cost $200 million to make
Last May, legendary videogame analyst Michael Pachter predicted that new Star Wars: The Old Republic development would cost somewhere around the $80 million mark; but it has been revealed in the Los Angeles Times that the figure is two-and-a-half times that amount - a cool $200 million.
That is a freakin' lot of money, even by today's standards, but it seems to be paying off.  EA stated last year that, to operate on a profit, the MMORPG would need somewhere around 500,000 subscribers, and it has currently shipped 2 million copies and has estimates of a 75-90 percent retention of subscribers staying on passed the initial free 30 days.
World of Warcraft killer it is not (yet) but this is promising for the fledgling game, though whether it can continue its encouraging start remains to be seen..
