George Lucas 'retires' from Blockbusters
George Lucas, the iconic filmmaker responsible for both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, has announced that he is retiring from the commercial end of film-making, and will concentrate on cheaper, more experimental fare, much like he did in the earlier stages of his career.
Lucas has said that this decision is in part fueled by criticisms he has received about the changes he has made to the original Star Wars trilogy, the stigma attached to the prequel Star Wars trilogy, and a certain scene with a refrigerator in the fourth Indiana Jones film.  He said "Why would I make any more...when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?".
The plans to convert and release all six Star Wars films in 3D over the next few years remain unaffected by this decision.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' plot details released
I will be avoiding spoilers in this post, but if you do not care and want the full details now, head on over here.
Obviously this will only be a short post , since I am avoiding spoilers, but I will say that images of Dr Curt Connors' lizard form has been revealed in some merchandise, and details of several encounters between Spider-Man and The Lizard have been described.  There is also a little bit of speculation on the fate of Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone).
Apologies for the neutered post but, like I said, head over to the original article over at ScreenRant and be spoiled!

'Half-Life' fans form group and ask politely for info
Valve are one of the most beloved video game developers as every game they release is of such high quality, though this does mean there can be long waits for games.  However, it seems that many gamers have grown tired of waiting for information on the Half-Life franchise, and have created a social group through Steam, Valve's digital distribution behemoth, to politely request information about the development of one of the most anticipated games of all time - whether that be Episode Three or a fully fledged Half-Life 3.
The thing with Half-Life isn't so much that there have been delays, which are understandable, but that there has been a significant lack of any kind of information relating the the next game's development/release/identity.  This group hopes to change that.  You can join it here, though you do require a Steam account.

Bioware looking at 'Skyrim' for how to do Dragon Age III
I don't think there were many games released in 2011 that split opinion quite like Dragon Age II, which many people loved for it's deeper character development and more 'homely' feel.  Others, however, despised the removal of core RPG elements, the scaled down, more focused scope of the game and, of course, the reused dungeon layouts.  Personally, I fell firmly between these two extremes as I didn't mind the simplification too much and liked the characters and story (though i did despise going through the same dungeon rooms over and over).
Bioware seem to think that enough people think enough was wrong with the game that they are actively taking cues from last year's mega-RPG Skyrim.  Bioware CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka said “We’re checking [Skyrim] out aggressively. We like it. We’re big admirers of [Bethesda] and the product...We think we can do some wonderful things.”.
Whether or not this means an announcement for Dragon Age III  is imminent or not is unclear, though this news is definitely encouraging, as I don't think there are many better RPGs to be using as a focal point than Skyrim!
