Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider Man crossover in summer
Marvel have been releasing a lot of Spider-Man teasers this week, in aid of informing about the upcoming events celebrating Spider-Man's 50th year in the biz.  Earlier in the week we got an image for the event 'Ends of the Earth' in which we will see just what the Sinister Six have been planning these past couple of months; and today they released this image:
Yes, Spider-Men. That image is one half Amazing Spider-Man, and one half Ultimate Spiderman... Does this mean there will finally be a crossover between the mainstream and Ultimate Marvel universes?  Spidey's anniversary seems a reasonable excuse to make it happen.
And what a time to do it as well!  Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man, and Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man, were two of the most critically acclaimed series of 2011, so them combining forces for a Spider-Man crossover in the summer is what dreams are made of!  Here's to seeing Pete and Miles fighting the good fight together!

Buy Dragon's Dogma, get early access to Resident Evil 6 demo
Dragon's Dogma is Capcom's latest attempt at a High Fantasy RPG to rival the Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls franchises and, honestly, I hadn't heard an awful lot about it until all the hubbub about Resident Evil 6 last week (apparently Dragon's Dogma was Capcom's largest scale game until Resident Evil 6).
But now, yet again tying into Resident Evil's larger fanbase for publicity, it has been announced that you will be able to gain early access to Resi. 6's demo if you buy Dragon's Dogma.  This in and of itself is not much of a story, but combined with the fact that Xbox 360 players will be able to play the demo from July 3rd, while Playstation 3-ers have to wait a whole two-extra-months til September(!) to be able to shoot at those shuffly undead - weird!  Though not so weird if you assume that Microsoft paid Capcom money (as opposed to gummy bears) for the semi-exclusive, to get gamers with both a 360 and a PS3 to go for the Xbox version - business savvy!
Dragons Dogma is released in the U.S. on May 22, and in Europe on May 25.
Resident Evil 6 is released worldwide on November 21st

Play Half-Life 2 for Half-Life 3 info
Remember I told you about the campaign for Half-Life 3 information a couple of weeks ago?  Who am I kidding, we don't get enough repeat traffic for you to have read that column as well!
But anyway, fans of Valve's Magnum Opus are a little sick of having pretty much no information to go on regarding the status of their in-development game featuring 'the one who does not speak', so are going about getting said information in pretty novel ways.  First they set up a Steam user group requesting information about HL2: Episode 3/Half-Life 3, whichever was in development; and now there is to be a mass-play session of Half-Life 2 this weekend, to prove to Valve just how much so many people care about their games.
Currently over 40,000 people have signed up to, this Saturday, fire up Steam and play Half-Life 2 at around 2pm EST (The usergroup is based in the U.S. so times are based around them, but just Google it to find your relevant start-time), but I'm sure just playing the game on Saturday will be enough to lend your support to the cause.  Valve have yet to respond to the group or the proposed effort, but their reputation for having a great rapport with their fans suggests that they will do something to acknowledge the passion shown by the group
I for one will be playing!  How about you?

Free X-Box Live Gold trial for Mass Effect 3 demo
My personal experience with Xbox live is as follows: activated Gold account for access to Dragon Age 2 demo; played a few hours of Gears of War 2 multiplayer before getting bored; present day.  15 months of Xbox Live Gold, and I play one demo and have an afternoon of shooting at things wearing to much amour to be able to function.  But not for long!
I have stated before that I am looking forward to the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, and as a kind gesture to make others try it out, Microsoft will be giving free temporary Gold memberships to all those who download the Mass Effect 3 demo onto their Xboxes - what a lovely Valentine's Day gift!
It is not known how long the trial will last or whether it extends to other Gold-based services, but it is a great deal nonetheless!  Just more reasons to play the game on the console the series was originally intended!  Didn't someone write an article about games seeming to belong on certain consoles?  My mind betrays me...
