Windows 8 Consumer Preview - Feb 29

Microsoft have announced that on February 29 in Barcelona they will be unwrapping their consumer preview of Windows 8. This is just a fancy way of saying they will be showing off the Beta version of their new operating system.

The event is being held at the Mobile World Congress, which is a trade show for mobile devices. It's pretty clear by this move that Microsoft are pushing for their new operating system to be a tablet OS as well as one for PC's. It makes sense, they said a while ago that they hope to uniform all of their devices under Win8 so having an operating system run for both tablets and PC's and maybe even Xbox(?) is the way to go.

You can go here to check out a very early preview of what Windows 8 will look like. Personally I'm not all that excited about this just yet. I'm still wary after the whole Vista butt fuck. I'm also a pretty big fan of Win7 and cant see myself wanting to shell out £300+ for a new operating system when the one I have does everything I need it to.

New Resident Evil 6 Information
Capcom have recently given the following statement about the game:
"Named by the BSAA after the Serbian word for 'demon', the first J'avo made an appearance in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe about six months before the action of Resident Evil 6. The J'avo still exhibit certain human elements—such as the ability to understand speech, work together as a group and use weapons—but they are also incredibly aggressive and a number of their actions have regressed to pure instinct. When a J'avo takes damage it has the ability to regenerate itself. However if it is receives major damage then it will mutate that affected body part into a number of varied forms, meaning players will have to rethink their strategy and adapt to this unpredictability."
This sounds both awesome and disappointing at the same time. The part about mutating damaged body parts could be pretty interesting, screwing you over for trying to kill the 'Zombies'. Though I'm not sure that word should be used to describe the threat here. They can "understand speech" and "work together as a group and use weapons" WTF thats not a Zombie!
These are Zombies!
I understand Capcoms want to mix things up, but for the Zombie survival game that started Zombie survival games you would expect them to get it right. Capcom are clearly not trying to get back to the games root with Resident Evil 6 despite their return to horror. Which in my opinion is a huge shame. Though I wont complain about being about being able to move and shoot at the same time.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake to get a Director?
Jonathan Liebesman is currently in talks to be the new director for the live action remake of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Liebesman most recently directed 'Wrath of the Titans' due to release March 30th and 'Battle: Lost Angeles', the latter of which did fairly well and the former most likely doing the same, though are they good movies?...not even a little bit. So excuse me if I'm not excited by this news.

As a rule, I am usually against remakes especially when they are potentially destroying loved childhood memories. I mean you guys saw TMNT right? Someone should have been slapped for that movie. Hopefully this iteration of the much loved franchise will prove me wrong and will turn out to be something awesome, but I wont be getting my hopes up.
